Benefits of hosting a SCL9T tournament
Marketing value
- Event information will be posted on the SCL9T website, the WPBA website, and the AZBilliards website.
- Press releases announcing each event will be send out to a network of female pool players all over Southern California, Northern California, Las Vegas and Arizona. These press releases will all include information about your establishment.
- SCL9T will use social networking sites, such as Facebook and Twitter to advertise the events and host sites.
- Electronic press kits (EPKs) will be sent to local media outlets. We cannot promise that local newspapers and news stations will take an interest…but we will make every effort to engage them in doing stories and human interest pieces.
- Live streaming of the event. The SCL9T plans to live stream each event…which helps promote your room to players from all over the country.
- Printed materials – the SCL9T will provide flyers for the event that can be handed out to the public and other pool rooms in the area to entice players and spectators to visit your room during the tournament.
Bringing new business to the host venue
- Obviously, the biggest concern of any pool room is getting people in to play. However, many rooms are not busy during the daytime…and having a tournament can help change that. While the SCL9T does ask the rooms for free table time for tournament play, many players will come in prior to the event to practice. They will also stay and play after tournament hours (we try to finish each day’s play by 7 pm so that night business is not affected). There is also food and beverage revenue created by bringing players into the room for a tournament.
- The WPBA has a large fan base…and many of these fans welcome the chance to see female players compete…even if it is not at the pro level. Local players will come to watch the event and sweat the action.
Merchandise Exchange
- The SCL9T is also recruiting sponsors for the year. Tiger Products has already agreed to a generous product donation…which means that we can give each room a cue to either sell or raffle off to generate revenue.
Requirements to host a SCL9T tournament
Added money – the SCL9T asks that a participating room add money to the prize fund. The amount is based on the number of players signed up to play at the event. (The added money can be raised from the sale of raffle tickets on chances to win the Tiger cue, especially if the host site does pre-event sales. The host site can also seek additional funds by offering advertising to local businesses by selling table signs which read "This table is sponsored by Jim's EXXON address and phone" or sell advertising in a printed program (handed out during the event). The host site can set up an incentive program for its employees or anyone who sells raffle tickets (such as for each $100 in raffle tickets sold, seller receives X tickets free or whoever sells the most tickets gets a bonus).)
Free table time during tournament play
- The host site will open its doors by 9:00 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday of the event and will have the racks of pool balls out on the pool tables. The host site will not charge table time for practice on Saturday or Sunday mornings for ladies entered in the main tournament or second chance tournament.
High-Speed Internet (required for live streaming. If room does not have high-speed internet, we will not be able to stream the event)
Equipment/Schedule – tournament schedule is for Saturday and Sunday. Room will need to open at 9 am, with play starting at 10 am. Rooms should have at least ten 9-foot tables, or the tournament may run later into the evening than desired.
